JAKIM-recognised foreign halal certification bodies

JAKIM recognises certifiers, not countries. This is the list by country, read from the gazette dated 30 January 2026, and it is what decides whether a foreign halal certificate is accepted in Malaysia.

Recognition attaches to the body

A halal certificate issued overseas is accepted for the Malaysian market only if the certifying body is on JAKIM's list. A well-known local body that is not on it will not do, and a certificate from one that is on it will, whatever country the product was made in. So the question for an exporter is never whether Malaysia recognises your country's halal system. It is whether your certifier is listed.

The gazette dated 30 January 2026 lists 94 bodies. 86 of them are in the 75 countries covered on this site: 40 of those countries have at least one listed body, and 35 have none.

Countries with at least one recognised body

Each country name links to its page, which sets out the local regulatory position and the route to the Malaysian market for businesses there.

Countries with no recognised body

The gazette lists no body in these 35 countries. A business there certifies through a body recognised in another country, and the recognition still attaches to that certifier and not to the country.

How to use this list

Before you commit to a certifier, check three things. That the body is on this list, in the current edition of the gazette. That the recognition covers your product category: the gazette extract here lists names and addresses only, so confirm the scope with the body. And that your documentation also meets the Malaysian standard for your product, since where the local standard and the Malaysian one differ, the Malaysian one governs entry to the Malaysian market. Which standard applies to a given product is set out in our guide to the schemes.

The gazette is republished from time to time, and the date in the caption is the edition this page reflects. For a decision with money behind it, confirm against JAKIM's current list.

If you plan to manufacture in Malaysia rather than export, you apply through MYeHALAL as a domestic applicant. See contract manufacturing and the application guide.

Note: We are independent consultants, not JAKIM, and we are not a certification body. We cannot recognise a certifier or accept a certificate. We help you choose a recognised body and prepare for it.
